Texts on Theory and Practice of Orff-Schulwerk: Orff-Schulwerk in Diverse Cultures - An Idea That Went Round the World

  • 24.12.2021

Dear presidents and editors of OS newsletters and magazines,
After intensive work by authors and editors, the second volume of the Studientexte zu Theorie und Praxis des Orff-Schulwerkes / Texts on Theory and Practice of Orff-Schulwerk is now available. The title of this collaborative work is: Orff-Schulwerk in Diverse Cultures - An Idea That Went Round the World. It is published by Pentatonic Press in San Francisco, California; $20.00 (US).

The volume describes the manifestations of the Orff-Schulwerk in many countries of Africa, North and South America, Asia, Europe, and Oceania. It is shaped by different cultures, languages, and educational systems, and provides a basis for international understanding of its means of application and new materials in many parts of the world.

It is recommended for all teacher educators and participants in levels courses and other education and training programs in Orff-Schulwerk as part of their basic reading.

We would like to ask for your kind assistance in the distribution of the book in two ways.
1. To announce the information about this new publication on your website and in your newsletters and magazines. Please consider asking someone to write a review of it for your publication(s) or your website.
2. For the shipment of the books, we suggest that each Orff-Schulwerk Association purchase a minimum quantity of 15-20 books, thus reducing the cost of shipping. Your association will be asked to pay Pentatonic Press (Doug Goodkin, publisher) for the full price of each book plus the shipping cost. You may order books by emailing your request directly to Doug Goodkin at goodkindg@aol.com. See also the attached book dealer information.

When you sell the book, you may choose to add the shipping cost to the sale price. The sales of the books could be done directly at conferences and seminars, workshops, and levels courses in your country and be paid back to your association.

We hope that this book will further the understanding and appreciation of our differences, deepen our worldwide connections, and inspire new ways to apply the pedagogical ideas of Carl Orff’s and Gunild Keetman’s elemental music and movement education.

We kindly ask that you forward this letter to the editor(s) of your publication(s).
